Food and other support services for the homeless and those in need

Barons Court Project – 69 Talgarth Road, London W14 9DD – The only day centre in Hammersmith & Fulham supporting people who are on low incomes, homeless and/or vulnerable to mental health issues. Shower and laundry facilities and a range of wellness activities are available.

Glass Door Homeless Charity  – Anyone experiencing or at risk of homelessness can turn to Glass Door regardless of who they are or where they are from. Year-round, people find advice and support to end their homelessness through trained caseworkers based at partnering drop-in centres. During the hard months of winter, Glass Door also provides emergency winter night shelter.

Next Meal – Using GPS, the website identifies the user’s location and lists the charities that provide food or other support for the hungry and homeless.

Pavement magazine is a printed resource intended for men and women experiencing homelessness and provides lists of organisations that can help. Their website also offers links to local and national services.

Refettorio Felix at St Cuthbert’s – 51 Philbeach Gardens, Kensington, London SW5 9EB – Open Monday – Friday from 12 until 2pm – Lunch is available to eat in or take away. Glass Door Casework support available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: from 12 until 2pm.

Restart Lives – Friday evening meal service at St Columba’s church in Pont Street, London SW1X 0BD.

St Andrew’s Homeless Project – Greyhound Road, London W14 9SA – Saturday morning drop in meal service from 8.30am to 11am. They offer tea and coffee and a hot meal, either as a seated service or as a takeaway. They also run a foodbank offering essential food supplies to those in need and have a shower available on a first come, first served basis.

St Augustine’s Church – 117 Queen’s Gate, London SW7 5LP – The shelter is open on Wednesdays from 10am to 12.30pm and 6pm to 8pm and on Thursdays from 10am to 12.30pm, offering food, clothing, casework and debt advice. Computer access and pastoral support  –  shelter@htb.org

St Mungo’s provides support to the homeless and those in need across almost every London borough.

Streetlink – A service that aims to ensure people sleeping rough are connected to the local services and support available to them. Call 0300 500 0914

Streetlytes – Monday evening meal service at St Stephen’s church, 1 Coverdale Road, London W12 8JJ. Tea and coffee from 5pm; supper at 6pm.

The Upper Room – Saint Saviour’s, Cobbold Road, London W12 9LN. Glass Door caseworker available: Mondays & Thursdays 12-3pm. Meals served 4 to 6pm on weekdays. Other services include the Upper Room’s employment support and driving programmes. Supplies including clothing and toiletries available.

Mental health

 The Samaritans operate a support telephone line, including other ways to contact, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Call for free on 116 123, or email jo@samaritans.org or alternatively use the online chat function.

Mind – Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow – Mind offer a range of services including advocacy, advice services, pathways & young people’s support.
